This restaurant brewery is situated right in the centre of Prague approximately 400 m from Wenceslas Square in Vodickova street no. 20 and started business in 1993.

It grew out of the great idea of joining a restaurant and micro-brewery in one complex and illustrating the interior with styles from gothic halls right up to the 20s and 30s of 20th century, including rich interior decoration. This idea connects with a tradition, long interrupted, which according to chronicles began in the 14th century, where somewhere in these places stood a building where a brewer lived who was licensed by law to brew beer. There is no further mention of beer being brewed in this street up to the present day.

This complex was the result of a felicitous linking of the cellar space with the above-ground area. In every larger brewery the beer being brewed is hidden from the sight of guests and consumers of the beer. Here it is precisely the opposite! Right inside the brewing house, several times a week visitors have the opportunity to follow the master brewers during the brewing of beer. Then you leave by the corridor around the kitchen where chefs prepare for you food that is always fresh and of high quality and specialities of Czech and international cuisine.

Next you pass into another space, the so called "spilka", where a further stage in the production of beer takes place. Here the guests have a view from their table through a window of five vermentation vats. Then the beer is matured in a beer cellar for maybe 6 weeks, from where it is drawn off into the bars, where you can already sample it. This beer is light or dark novomestsky non-filtered fermented 11% lager. It is a so called "natural product".

After being presented with the menu, written in many languages, you can give yourself over to culinary delights in the atmosphere of the Novomestsky Pivovar. To enhance your pleasure, every evening our accordionist Frantisek, a famous cabaret artist renowned throughout the whole of Europe, will play and sing.

As you leave you can buy several of the commemorative objects. From glasses with the logo Novomestsky Pivovar, all the way up to 5 litre barrels of beer.
