Already for 160 years, Pilsen has produced a bottom-fermented pale lager which is given an unmistakable flavour and quality - even said to have healing powers - by a combination of the quality of s, its own brewing yeast culture, several generations of brewers handing know-how down to each other, and the specific brewing process.

 The first steam engine in Pilsen was installed in this very brewery; in 1865 gas lamps were introduced; in 1881 the first electric lighting and in 1894 the telephone. The installation of arc lamps in the brewery was personally supervised by their inventor Frantisek Krizík.
