If you intend to marry in the Czech Republic and you are a resident of the United Kingdom, you will need to post the notice of marriage to your local registry office or place of marriage in the UK in order to gain a Certificate of No Impediment. Please note that:
The Notice of Marriage has to be displayed three weeks before the Certificate of No Impediment can be issued. Ensure this document validity of one year is stated.
The Birth Certificate, Certificate of No Impediment, and Decree Absolute (if appropriate) must be originals and must be legalised at the Legalisation Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London –
The Old Admiralty Building,
Whitehall,
London.
SW1A 2LG
Tel 0044 207 008 1111

and translated into Czech before they are valid for the Czech authorities.
Then you should contact a ‘matrika’ office in the Czech Republic to ensure you have all the relevant documents. Beware of legal/office jargon. They use terms like ‘document proving identity’ and ‘a valid travel document’. Obviously your passport covers both of these requirements.

If you live outside of the United Kingdom, you will need to post your notice of marriage to your nearest British Embassy or Consulate with the following documents:
Birth certificates
Passports
Relevant divorce certificates
3,200 Czech Crowns
After 21 days, you will be asked to return to that British mission, to make and sign your Affidavit. Your Certificate of No Impediment will then be issued in Prague in both Czech and English languages. This document is acceptable at the Czech matrika offices without any need of further endorsements.
Your Birth Certificate and Decree Absolute (if appropriate) must be original and legalised at the Legalisation Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London- The Old Admiralty Building, Whitehall, London. SW1A 2LG Tel 0044 207 008 1111 Fax 0044 207 008 1010- and translated into Czech before they will be valid for the Czech authorities.
